Countries that grow chia seeds in South America (mainly Bolivia, Argentina and Paraguay) are affected by frost damage, and about 40-50% of the crop is said to be gone.

We are seeing many suppliers already booked and some defaulting on their contracts, as well as the global container crisis with delayed shipments and very expensive freight rates making trade very problematic. Buyers around the world are desperately trying to meet their short- to medium-term chia seed needs in this extraordinary situation.

You can expect further price hikes for chia seed until at least October/November and after that we have a chance to see more products on the market – also with the help of new chia seed harvest in the African region.

If you’d like to learn more about the market and/or our products, please feel free to call or email us.
