The Brazil Nut market is very tight and unpredictable. Nearly 35 percent less crop in the Amazon region, the global container shortage, and the strong impact of Covid – all of which have resulted in a shortage of raw materials, and prices are constantly rising.
Packers withdrew their offers and / or refused to bid, some small packers defaulted or delayed their previous contract export sales due to incoming raw material quantities being too low and high priced.
We believe prices will remain at these levels or rise higher, and we will not see the price levels of the previous crop as it will take time for supply to meet demand due to insufficient availability of containers (and very expensive freight) and Covid.
